Lebarca wool blankets

Lebarca blankets are true heirloom blankets similar to those which were used by your grandmothers and grandfathers. They are hand-loomed from pure natural wool from Karakachan and other indigenous sheep high in the mountains of Eastern Europe.
They are processed only with pure mountain river water to bring up the nap and pre-shrink them. After 14 hours of this water processing, they are dried in the sun.
Lebarca blankets are made from virgin wool. This means the yarn is made from wool which comes directly from the sheep and not from some other products (recycled). The wool is a very long and soft fiber, with a beautiful healthy sheen, not unlike clean healthy human hair. Most of the colors are from the natural colors of the sheep. Other blankets made these days are from recycled wool ( not virgin) which has been cut, bleached, dyed, and chemically processed to give a uniform texture and softness, however, all this processing hurts the natural qualities of the wool, which becomes like something dead.
In the USA, there is no certification for organic wool, and those who say otherwise are mistaken, but if there were, Lebarca would be certified organic.
